How does a prominent LA philanthropist and fashion fixture get ready for a night at The Frick? Rochelle Gores Fredston writes in about her recent visit to NYC supporting one of her favorite institutions.
“I started PSLA a little over six years ago and have received tremendous support from incredible fashion partners over the years, as we help the most at-risk youth in Los Angeles County. In January we’re partnering with Carolina Herrera on our annual Winter Gala. During one of our planning meetings, Mrs. Herrera was kind enough to ask me to join her table this year at The Frick’s Autumn dinner, which also happens to be one of my favorite museums. It was actually where my husband and I wanted to get married, before my father convinced us to have the wedding at his home in LA. I always love coming to New York and this was the perfect occasion to support Mrs. Herrera, who has been so incredibly generous with PSLA. With any event, the dress is always incredibly important to me and it was so great to have a wonderful option thanks to her.
I selected a gorgeous navy blue and black gown for the evening. I was initially drawn to the dress because of the beautiful color—I prefer to wear color over plain black, so this immediately caught my eye. There was such beautiful gold detailing and embellishments, which also made it special. I loved the intricate work that made the dress feel very original. To keep the focus on the dress, my hairstyle was very minimal and pulled back, and my make-up was simple with a bold eye. I selected simple gold studs by Lena Wald, as to not compete with the dress details. I have a very special diamond bracelet and diamond and sapphire ring from my husband, so those complimented the look perfectly.
“The evening was absolutely perfect and the unusually warm weather made for a beautiful evening. We arrived and had plenty of time to mingle and enjoy the exhibitions, as it truly is a magical place. It’s always such a privilege to experience a museum after-hours, and to actually have dinner in one of the galleries makes for a memorable night! Though it still felt like summer outside, the dinner was autumn-inspired and got me very excited for the holidays, when I will be returning to New York for Thanksgiving and hopefully sweater weather! Chatting with Mrs. Herrera and the amazing guests at the table was a highlight. Though I’m a California girl, New York City still has a piece of my heart!”

It’s truly very difficult in this busy life to listen news on Television, so I simply use world wide
web for that purpose, and get the most recent news.
